It looks almost as if they used the die for the old Astrocam (similar to Cineroc, too). This new one uses the same (logical) lens hood, bur is more pointed.

I published a plan for reverse-mounting the Astrocam that will work with the Digital Video Rocket in Second Stage: Advanced Model Rocketry. (You can fabricate the parts, or get them from Estes or other suppliers.) That book is unfortunately out of print now, though it turns up on eBay at times.

The reason for reversing the camera is that you get photos when the rocket arcs over and for a brief period of the dscent (until the parachute opens).
